I was a Folk singer to begin with in college. I was originally going to be a math major, but music looked like it was going to be a lot more interesting. So, I kind of switched over to music and quite late. I knew how to sing well, but I didn't know how to read music and so it was tough for me to be in music school with music majors, not knowing how to read. So, I had to spend a lot of after hours reciting notes on the staff and all the terminology and the counting and all the various things you have to do to become a musician who can read.
